Did you know that many flowers are actually edible? Violets are one flower that most people wouldn't think of as food, but they bring a beautiful, delicate flavor to any dish they are infused in. Flowers also have an extremely high vibration. They tend to emit higher frequency vibrations than other foods. When you are doing energy work and healing many foods help support and activate the lower chakras, with their more dense and physical frequencies. However, when we get to the higher chakras our choices seem to be more limited. Flowers resonate at high enough frequencies that they can activate, clear, and even heal the throat, third eye, and crown chakras!
Looking at flowers under ultraviolet light helps to show some of their higher energy properties. Fun fact! Bees see ultraviolet light so this is closer to what flowers look like to them. The powerful energetic frequencies of edible flowers can be infused into any dish easily by making it into a simple syrup.
This process is quite simple and can be used with any edible flower you'd like to use. Today I'll be using dried violet petals to create a delicious violet syrup to infuse into my drinks and baking. You can also steep the petals in hot water to make a simple herbal tea. The tea is my treat while the syrup is being made.
Measure equal parts of water, sugar, and petals. Today I'm combining 1 cup of water with 1 cup of sugar to make a small batch of this syrup. You can also use any sugar alternative that you like to make this recipe more healthy. Coconut sugar is one of my favorite substitutes! Mix the water and sugar over medium to low heat, dissolving all the sugar and stirring it continually so it doesn't burn. Then add 1 cup (or an equal portion to the water and sugar) of violet petals.
The most important part of this process is to infuse the flavor of the petals into the syrup slowly while stirring it to prevent burning. Here's where the magic comes in, because if you are intentional with your thoughts and energies while stirring you can infuse your intention into the tincture as well. All it takes is intention and focus on the present moment to accomplish this.
Turn down the heat to low to prevent boiling. Keep the mixture on a low heat. When it has heated and infused for at least 15 minutes, pour the mixture into your containers. I love using pretty glass bottles for this! Let the petals steep in the mixture overnight, then strain them out to keep the syrup fresh for longer. Store in the refrigerator.
Infuse this delicate syrup into your baking, cookies, donuts, and more. Experiment and have fun! You can also flavor drinks with it. One of my favorite options for this is creating Violet Lemonade by simply adding the syrup to premade lemonade, although homemade would make it much better.
